Frequently Asked Questions

Answers about billing, usage limits, caching, upgrades, and custom plans.

How does billing work?

Imgwire uses a subscription model with fixed monthly allowances for storage, bandwidth, uploads, and transformations. Public plans do not include automatic overages or surprise usage billing. If your workload needs more room, you can upgrade to a higher plan or contact us for a custom plan.

Do you offer a free plan?

No. Imgwire is bootstrapped, and image storage, processing, and CDN delivery all have real infrastructure costs. Instead of offering a free tier, we offer a $10/month Builder plan so you can use the full Imgwire workflow in a real project.

Do cached images count as transformations?

No. A transformation is counted when Imgwire processes an image on a cache miss. Requests served from cache do not count as new transformations.

What happens if I exceed my plan limits?

All public plans have fixed monthly limits and no automatic overages. If you reach your limits, you can upgrade to a higher plan, wait for your limits to reset, or contact us for a custom plan. You will be notified before limits are enforced.

How is storage calculated?

Storage is based on the total size of your stored images in Imgwire. This includes all uploaded images currently stored in your account.

Does CDN delivery count toward bandwidth?

Yes. Image delivery through the CDN counts toward your monthly bandwidth allowance, whether the image is served from cache or processed on demand.

Do unused limits roll over to the next month?

No. Monthly usage limits reset at the start of each billing cycle and do not roll over.

Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan at any time?

Yes. You can change your plan at any time. Changes are prorated and take effect immediately.

Can I use Builder in production?

Yes. Builder can be used for small production apps, prototypes, and side projects. For custom domains, higher limits, team access, and production growth, upgrade to Startup.

When should I upgrade from Builder to Startup?

Upgrade when you need a custom domain, more storage, more bandwidth, more uploads, more transformations, or team access.

What happens if I stop paying?

If your subscription lapses, new uploads and transformations may be disabled. Existing images may continue to be served for a limited time. You will be notified before any service interruptions occur.

Can I bring my own domain (e.g. images.myapp.com)?

Custom domains are included on Startup and Growth. Builder uses the default Imgwire delivery domain, which makes it a good fit for testing, prototypes, and small apps.

What happens if I outgrow Growth?

If your app needs more bandwidth, storage, uploads, transformations, custom limits, or migration support, contact us for a custom plan. We will work with you before usage becomes a problem.
